What are Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is sent by a website to your computer or mobile device where it is stored by your web browser. This enables a website to recognize you as you move around the site and/or each time you revisit. Cookies are used for a wide variety of purposes such as to keep you logged in or to remember your preferences and settings, to analyze how the site is used by you, and to serve advertising to you. Cookies may be served to you by the website you are visiting (a "first party cookie") or by another organization providing services to that website, such as an analytics organization or advertising network (a "third party cookie"). They will either be stored for the duration of your visit (a "session cookie") or they will remain on your device for a fixed period, which could be months or even years, to remember you across multiple browsing sessions (a "persistent cookie").

There are different purposes for employing cookies:

  • Some cookies are essential for a website to function properly and to ensure that a website is protected from unusual activity (“strictly necessary cookies”). These cookies are usually only set in response to actions and requests made by you, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms.
  • Some cookies are often used to improve the performance of a website by allowing us to analyze the flow of visitors, number of users and traffic sources (“analytical cookies”). This type of cookie is not strictly necessary for a website to function but is aimed at telling us, for example, which pages you find the most interesting. Information collected about you through analytical cookies enables us to give you a personalized experience of a website and thus provide you with the best user experience possible. For example, this means that we can ensure that the pages you visit are ready to accommodate the relevant number of visitors, and consequently, load faster.
  • Some cookies are typically used to market our Partners’ services or our Company Products, usually through third-party sites, by collecting information about your browsing habits and how you navigate within a website (“advertising cookies”). This in turn enables us to make our content and advertising as relevant to you as possible.
  • Some cookies are used to enhance the performance of a website by for example making sure that the website you visit loads faster (“performance cookies)”. Generally, the information collected is of basic nature and may include information relating to the type of browser that is typically used. This information will, amongst other things, help us to analyze the flow of visitors and users.
  • Some cookies are typically used to remember your preset features and preferences (“personalization cookies”). Such preferences include preferred currency, language, and types of products/services. These cookies will help us understand your interests and facilitate your use of a website.

Managing Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are always enabled. You can choose which non-necessary cookies you allow by clicking on the cookie preferences button. You can also choose how web browser cookies are handled by your device via your browser settings including to enable, refuse or delete all cookies. Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. Note however that a Partner website may have additional cookies managed separately by them. Note as well that the processing of personal data collected by cookies placed by us on behalf of a Partner will be covered by that Partner’s privacy policy.
